Education and Training
Feel free to access my Curriculum Vitae for a fuller picture of my education, training, and background. In sum, I have a background that has emphasized training with children and families, both clinically and through research.

I completed a Master's of Science degree in psychology with an emphasis on child development from the University of Texas at Arlington before pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas. During part of my time as a doctoral student, I worked as a Licensed Psychological Examiner, providing evaluation and treatment to children, adolescents, and their families.

Just before graduation, I completed a 12-month clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship in St. Louis, Missouri, where I worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. I also worked in a clinic specifically serving children who had experienced trauma. Finally, I completed a specialized year of training after graduation as a Graduate Psychology Education Fellow at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

In my spare time, I volunteer my time with my local Girl Scout community. I also like to explore all that Rochester has to offer. Most of the pictures on the tops of these pages are pictures that I took in the area.

Where you can find me:
I am the 2012 President- Elect for the Genesee Valley Psychological Association (Executive Board Newsletter co-editor). I am a current fellow in the Leadership Institute of The New York State Psychological Association as well as an active member in the American Psychological Association. All three associations offer free services to the public looking for psychologists in the area. Find the state one here: NYSPA's referral service.

I work part time at the University of Rochester Medical Center through the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Service. I coordinate the group program and provide treatment to families and behavioral health consultation at Head Start centers downtown. I also coordinate the outpatient psychology training program and supervise trainees at different stages of their own development towards becoming psychologists.

I am an adjunct instructor at Monroe Community College. I usually teach Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101) or a course in the developmental series. I started my own education at a community college and love the opportunity to work at one that values the students and education.

I am a consulting psychologist for the Monroe County Family Court.

I am hoping to combine my interests in parenting, families, and writing through a blog I started. You can also "like" me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter @theparentingbox. My vision for this website is that it will evolve into a source of information for parents and others in the Rochester community. I welcome feedback and suggestions.
